The ordeal is ending

I had a kidney stone. A 7mm x 2mm kidney stone. I had it removed about a week and a half ago and just got the stint removed today. It has been a long and painful process which will probably involve anotherweek or so of mild pain.

When I first went to the E.R. I went because I was seeing blood where there should not be blood, not because of pain. It hurt a little, but at that point it was more scary than painful. I managed to find a urologist and get it checked out on Christmas eve and scheduled the removal surgary for the following week. Still, only intermittent pain.

I went in for surgury, got knocked out, and had the stone lasered and removed, had a stint put in, and had a lot of intense meds. This is where the pain started. Recovery has been the most painful part. At times it was painful even to stand up. I did go back to work the next day and just took my pain meds and powered through it, but it was unpleasant to say the least.

I went back today to have the stint removed. Now, up to this point I thought the stint was a small. When I went in I found out that I would be consious for this procedure and that there would only be a little local anestetic used at “the point of entry.” I walked in and saw the nurse cleaning a quite terrifying tool (that’s the thing in the picture) and sat down awaiting certain doom.

The procedure was pretty darn painful. It was at the end of this proceedure I was informed [showed] the stint that was actually about a foot long. All of the pain made a little more sense after that.

I hope to back to 100% in a couple days, but just like last time, I’ll be back at work tomorrow.
